PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of the Residential Director, Chief Operations Officer, and Executive Director, the Direct Care Professional will be responsible for providing hands-on support with daily living activities for group home clients. Duties include personal care, daily living activities, meal preparation, housekeeping, transportation, medication administration, supportive services, record keeping, and advocacy.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
Age 18 years or older, have a high school diploma or GED, and have at least one year of verifiable experience working directly with individuals receiving services in a medical, psychiatric, nursing, or childcare setting or working with recipients who have a developmental disability. In lieu of the required work experience, providers and employees may have 30 semester hours, 45 quarter-hours, or 720 classroom hours of college or vocational school.
Have valid CPR and First Aid Certifications
Be eligible for employment under State of Florida Statutes 393, 394, 397, 402 and 409. A fingerprint check, Florida Abuse Registry screening and local, state, and federal law enforcement background checks are required to ensure eligibility.
Direct service providers who are responsible for transporting clients shall not possess driving violations, committed within the past three years, which relate to driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs or any other moving violation(s) which resulted in the suspension or revocation of that direct service provider’s license. Direct service providers must obey all traffic laws while transporting residents.
Employees whose job requires driving or transporting residents must have a valid Florida driver’s license and be eligible for coverage under Gillespie Services insurance policies.
